21-year-old man arrested after high-speed Porsche chase in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. — Deputies arrested a 21-year-old man Sunday following a high-speed pursuit of a recklessly driven Porsche that ended with spike strips in Everett, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).

No injuries or vehicle damage were reported during the incident.

The SCSO says the chase began at 6:21 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5 near State Route 526.

Sheriff’s deputies briefly called off the initial pursuit after the car exited into downtown Everett, later tracking the vehicle using aerial drone surveillance and ground units near Everett Mall Way.

SCSO Sergeant Wallin first initiated the pursuit on northbound I-5 just south of State Route 526. They say Wallin made the decision to terminate the pursuit after the driver exited onto Broadway Avenue in downtown Everett while continuing to flee at excessive speeds.

Over the next several minutes, deputies and SKY drone operators say they observed the Porsche driving recklessly in the area of I-5 and Everett Mall Way.

SCSO K9 Deputy Byrd and Deputy Duran located the vehicle near Everett Mall Way. They say a second brief pursuit ended when deputies deployed spike strips near 7th Avenue SE.

After hitting the spike strips, the driver stopped and surrendered without incident.

The SCSO says they are pursuing the legal seizure of the suspect vehicle.
