A Thurston County deputy was injured after responding to a domestic violence call in Rainier Tuesday.
According to Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders, shortly after 9 pm Tuesday, deputies responded to a domestic violence call in Rainier.
On arrival, deputies were told a dead person was inside the home.
Deputies say they asked the resident to wait outside, but instead the person locked themselves inside the house.
When deputies tried to get inside, shots were fired at them through the door. Sheriff Sanders says a second deputy returned fire before both retreated.
After an all-night standoff, Sheriff Sanders says the suspect was taken into custody at 6 am.
He says shots were exchanged between officers and the suspect.
The suspect will be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The injured deputy was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
No other deputies were injured.
